Head of Accounting - Contract or Permanent

Job Description

For one of our growing multi-national clients in Geneva, we are seeking a strong Accounting Manager with the ability to lead a team through a significant transformation. This position will start immediately as interim for 6 months and could lead to a permanent contract. There is a team of 5 to manage towards excellence in a changing environment, with various standards to reach on reconciliation, reporting accuracy, and the implementation of a new tool.

Head of Accounting – Contract or Permanent, Geneva, Switzerland

The main duties and responsibilities of the Head of Accounting are:

• Management of a team of Accountants
• Delivery of consolidated financial statements for all stakeholders
• Developing and implementing Accounting policies and processes, centralising where possible, local where essential
• Owning and updating the Accounting manual, corporate and countries, communicating changes
• Compliance and controls leadership, including being the main point of contact for Auditors
• Country Accounting support
• Post merger integration of acquired entities’ Accounting into the company
• IFRS 16 lead – ensuring solid understanding across the group, especially Operations
• Co-ordination with the controllership function to deliver monthly financial statements (P & L B/S, including quarterly reviews, and cash flow)
• Supporting corporate Finance function as required
• Annual statutory accounts including Group consolidation
• Continuous improvement of month-end process, consolidation, and country Accounting

The main skills required for the Head of Accounting are:

• Strong Accounting knowledge of IFRS and Swiss GAAP. Accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, ACA) preferred
• Deep experience-based understanding of group level Accounting and consolidation in an international company
• Strong management experience (3+) with proven ability to develop high performers
• Track record of prioritising and delivering improvements, commitment to deadlines
• Ability to challenge strong leadership with positive outcomes
• Excellent communication skills essential, team player
• Fluent written and spoken English, French desirable
• Strong project management skills in a fast-paced environment
