Financial Manager
Based in the centre of Vienna, our client is small but dynamic start-up company in the Biotechnology industry, with highly ambitious strategic growth plans.
As a result, a new position has been created to add value to the growth plans and to play an instrumental role in driving the business forward.
In what is a broad and varied brief, the key responsibilities of this “hands on” role are to include,
• To provide key financial support to the CEO.
• To manage and control and the accounting functions of the company and its overseas subsidiaries including the provision of management and statutory reports.
• To ensure adequate internal controls and the provision of timely and accurate information to the CEO, Auditors, Banks, Salary support, IT support and Suppliers.
• Driving forecasting, planning and business reviews
• Preparation of consolidated financial statements for annual report and half yearly review;
• Preparation of management accounts;
• Preparation of statutory cash flow;
• Assisting with the preparation and lodgment of statutory returns, including tax;
• Preparation of project budgets and annual forecasts and report variances to actual;
• Assist the company in foreign currency and cash flow management.
• Report on the company’s risk management profile and maintain risk registers
• Update internal administrative policies and procedures to maintain and improve internal control
• To support ad hoc projects when needed
In order to fulfill the responsibilities of the role, it is envisaged the candidate should have the following skill set & experience,
• Qualified Accountant or MBA
• 2 years + proven experience in managing the finance and accounting functions within a small or medium sized organisation
• Extremely hands on, commercially driven and product focused, with numerous examples of success in these areas
• Experience of managing & adding value to first class processes, procedures and systems
• Previous experience in the life sciences industry preferred but not essential
• Proven ability to develop and manage budgets and initiate proactive analysis such as financial models, costings and policies
• Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
• Well developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills for liaising with senior Management and external parties
• Demonstrable ability to operate as an effective team member
• Ability to create and maintain relationships with internal/external contacts
• High level organisational skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong Excel computing skills and knowledge of financial reporting packages
• Fluency in English and German
